Founded by a collective of painters and printmakers who shared rent in an industrial loft, the foundation began as an informal mutual-aid pool. That grassroots framework persists in our current structure.
Today, our permanent endowment sustains cross-border residencies and direct grants without administrative friction, keeping resources directly in the hands of active practitioners.
Transparent oversight and jury independence
Governed by a majority-artist board, the foundation maintains strict separation between endowment management and selection juries. Annual financial audits and detailed impact disclosures are published every November to ensure public accountability.
Our open endowment policy guarantees that funding allocations remain traceable, predictable, and entirely free from commercial interference or conditional patronage.
